St. Louis Zoo Bee Garden Sculpture and Signage
P.A.U.S.E. : Pollinators, Art, Urban Agriculture, Society, Environment I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a joint project between the St. Louis Zoo, Tohono Chul in Tucson, Arizona, and the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi. This project was developed to educate people about the vital role pollinators play in agriculture and the environment. Another goal of the initiative was to design or enhance a garden that supports pollinators by incorporating a sculpture that serves as a nesting site for solitary bees. For the St. Louis Zoo, my design concept was selected to help educate visitors about the project. The display is now located next to the Insectarium and features signs placed in large pots with seasonal vegetation. (See the last two photos!)
